Bats can actually be of good use, as they are not aggressive and even
eat insects and other pests. They also have good eyesight, but they rely
on their more useful sense of navigation via ultrasound echolocation and
looking for insects while on air. Bats also possess arms and hands that
are similar to a human’s, just that the bones of the hand and finger are
designed to be longer and more capable of providing support and strength
to move the wing. The hind legs of bats meanwhile are designed for
better landing as well as hanging upside-down.

Bats only become a big problem when they begin to form big groups and
swarm on human dwellings. As much as some people want to have them as
pets, bats release guano (droppings) which is really unhygienic, and can
easily begin the breeding ground for a fungal disease known as
Histoplamosis. This disease can be passed to humans who get to inhale
the spores. Aside from this, bats are also notorious carriers of rabies,
a viral illness which can cause progressive paralysis and sudden death
among animals and humans.
